President Ilham Aliyev: "Council of Europe PA has chosen Azerbaijan and Turkey as a target"

"Last month, Turkish representatives fully supported the just stance of Azerbaijan and demonstrated solidarity once again at the meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. They showed once again that they are on the side of the truth and justice. In turn, the Azerbaijani delegation always supports Turkey as well," said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev while receiving the delegation led by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.

The head of state noted that the Council of Europe has chosen Azerbaijan and Turkey as a target.

"As the people, who operate at the Parliamentary Assembly (PA) of the Council of Europe, we know this organization well. Unfortunately, throughout 20 years, this organization has chosen Azerbaijan as a target, and Turkey for a long period of time. I recall that when I first started working as the head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the Council of Europe PA, my first step was to organize a meeting between the Azerbaijani and Turkish delegations. We met on the first day and agreed that we would support each other on all issues. Unfortunately, I consider that since that time, the degradation process of the Council of Europe has been ongoing. This organization is losing its importance on an international scale," President Ilham Aliyev highlighted.

Noting that the Council of Europe has no power to have an impact on the processes happening in the world, the head of state said that the organization's influence has declined, and the primary reason of this is hypocrisy, double standards and injustice.
